Algonquin Canoe by Dan Sarazin
12' birchbark hunting canoe, circa 1970, made by the late Dan Sarazin of Golden Lake, Ontario, one of the last and best known of the older generation of Algonquin canoe makers. This canoe is in excellent useable condition and is typical of the style built by Sarazin. An early example of his canoes with his wife and three children on board can be seen in the photo on page 120 of ''The Bark Canoes and Skin Boats of North America" by Adney [Sarazin photo taken by Adney ]. A description of Sarazin's canoe building technique can be found in ''Building a Birchbark Canoe'' by David Gidmark. Sarazin's work is characterized by clean lines and neat workmanship. Price $8000
